I went from confused college senior to COO. Now I help early-career pros get jobs and navigate the first 3 years post grad.
Senior year of college, I felt like I was already behind.
My classmates were landing major internships and I didn’t even know I was supposed to be applying. Nobody told me. There was no class for it. I figured it out late, scrambled, and somehow still landed my dream job in NYC publishing.
From the outside, I looked like I had it together.
In reality, I didn’t know where my career was headed. And within 2 years, I was $9,000 in debt, lonely in a city where I didn’t know anyone, and so stressed out I ended up in the ER.
Then I realized there are unwritten rules to everything...especially early-career life.
Once I knew they existed, I saw them everywhere.
That’s when things started moving fast for me. Four promotions. Salary 5x’d. Eventually COO.
I spent 12 years on the other side of the interview table, hiring and managing people at every level. I know what makes a candidate memorable. And I know what makes one forgettable, because I’ve seen both numerous of times.
Now I work with women in their first five years after college who are where I was: smart, ambitious, and running on instinct because nobody gave them the actual post-grad playbook.
I call those missing lessons the unwritten rules of early-grad life. Career, cash, and confidence. The stuff college skips.
